This is the first year that the Kia Racing team has participated in the Pirelli World Challenge and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Drivers were given turbocharged Kia Optimas and it looks like they’re more capable than the rest of the field thought as they have been tearing up the circuit.
Throughout the 2012 Pirelli World Challenge the Kia Racing team has surprised not only themselves, but their competition as well. The Kia Racing team is no slouch as they have won two races outright and took the podium six times. This team may have a bunch of experienced drivers but let’s not forget that this is the first year Kia Racing has actually been on the track, which is nothing short of remarkable!
The 2012 Pirelli World Challenge will be concluding this weekend at the Raceway at Sonoma.
One of the members of the Kia Racing team and five-time World Challenge Champion, Michael Galati, talked about how remarkable the first year as part of Kia Racing really was, stating that, “We’ve had an incredible first year with some outstanding results. The team has developed the Optima to be a real competitor in this class, and I think we have something good going for 2013 and beyond. With this fantastic team and the Optima platform, I am confident we have what it takes to run for a championship next season.”
It’s safe to say that once the drivers get more familiar with the Kia platform, the Kia Racing team will be a serious threat to capture the Pirelli World Challenge.
